just getting back from a small vacation in sandestin, florida. it was unbelievably gorgeous. this was my view from the balcony of my room. i could see water for miles and miles!!

the umbrellas that the boys put up on the beach every morning look like mushrooms that bloomed in the early morning mist. those guys work hard!

this picture was done by a local artist. all his work is done on wood and he cuts out the frames to match the theme of the painting. it's so bright and bold! i loved all the pictures.

this cab was also neat! if you look closely you'll see all the writing and pictures. his license plate says "artcab".

hope you enjoyed the second-hand view!

pink Saturday

i am so excited to be the owner of this new bike! i've wanted one for quite a while but really didn't want something ordinary and i couldn't afford a vintage one. the great thing about living in a small town is the fact that so many places are right there. i got the basket years ago and it fits right on without a problem. even though the bike is pink--this is one of my green solutions!

i'm also showing off my pretty pink gardening gloves-which, unfortunately, are still very new looking. it's been so hot and i've been so lazy about the weeds.  they'll get used eventually.

please visit the other pink posts today hosted by beverly
p.s. if you scroll down i made a dress for my granddaughter that has pink in it. i can't wait to see it on her!

a new dress for georgia

last week i made this dress for my granddaughter-georgia kate) and i used the small size on the pattern (for 12-15 lbs.) but it's a little too big. i think i'll use some of my fat quarters from the vintage sheet swap and try again, maybe add some rickrack (cause i love it!) and ruffles (cause they're so sissy and so is she already). kids' clothes are so much fun to sew. they don't worry about their tummy sticking out or their arm flab showing. now i need to find something to make for gabe, my grandson. below is the detail with a yo-yo bow. aren't the colors wonderful? i used perle cotton to hem the bottom and do a detail stitch around the bodice.

i went see mamma mia this weekend and thought it was wonderful! i love the singing and dancing, i love the villa, the linens, the beach!! if i could get on a plane tomorrow and go to greece i would, but it'd have to be that particular island. the scenery is absolutely spectacular, go see it if you can.

old house

old house, originally uploaded by suesueb.

our town has been fixing up a lot of old houses. i guess the market is better for renovating than building. i'm just glad because i love older homes. they have so much character and i wonder how the people in them lived years ago. my house is over 100 years old. my kids think it's haunted because many of my electrical appliances fail and my phones never last! i love it though-it really is part of me. p.s. i've never been visited by a ghost.

it's time for pink saturday again!! the photos above are from a wall in baton rouge. these coverings hide the work going on for the additional stores in this shopping area. perkins rowe is a new area of shopping in the city and has some really great shops-- anthropologie, zgallerie, bcbg, and many other boutiques. the food offerings ain't so bad either! kona grill was delicious as was la madeline for coffee and dessert.

my mom found a bunch of transfers that she had for years and gave them to me to use. i couldn't believe it, but they still worked. i ironed them on white cotton and embroidered them the best i could without having a guide. this one was one of my favorites. i decided to make a quilt and yesterday spent the day piecing. i'm terrible about following a pattern so i just cut pieces and then designed the rest of the blocks to sort of match. i have the perfect backing chosen and next week i hope to finish it.

nice, fun summer colors!!
