Bragging rights

I've been having  a secret for ages now and I can finally share! I'm so excited to be a part of this......

Cathy was so generous to ask me to participate by making a doll quilt and I'm so honored. At first I was really anxious because look at all that talent that's in there with me. Some pretty awesome little quilts, uh? (And adorable girls!)

And here's mine....

I made this little quilt for my mom~I know she'd be so proud of me. All the fabrics come from her stash (which was truly unbelievable). I have so many vintage pieces from her and wanted to honor her with this. That's her initials. The white textured fabrics were stored in a stack in one of her back rooms. I know she must have had a dream for these pieces. Hopefully, my little dream quilt has fulfilled a part of that. So if you love to sew cute, new ideas and dolly quilts, check your local bookstore, fabric shop or Amazon to order your copy.

These all look like so much fun and a little masterpiece can be all yours to have or to give to someone you love.

Linking to Beverly at How Sweet the Sound~there's lots of pink doll quilts in there!!

p.s. Tomorrow I should have another baby to share with y'all~pray everything goes well for my daughter Katie and her new little one, Oliver John!!

Here he is:
Oliver John Dufrene; 8 lbs. 4 oz. All doing well!

c.h.o.m.p.

a couple of months ago rachael had an idea that we should get together (all the girls and kids) and form a dinner club to use our good serving china and visit, play games, create memories, and eat of course! we all brain stormed and kt came up with the name c.h.o.m.p. (can't have our men present) unless of course, they follow certain rules (such as dressing like a woman and behaving!) anyway-there are some rules to follow. everyone must be a hostess (even at someone else's house if they don't have the room), you have to follow the theme, and you need to bring a dish following the theme also. rachael hosted the first chomp and her theme was italian food and wearing roman togas to celebrate the Ide's of March. we had so much fun and laughed and ate and laughed and ate!!!

here's gabe doing a pose on the hassock. just like a man--he laid there so naturally and didn't move for quiet a while!
some of the food. ceasar salad, calzones, brushetta, foccacia bread. we also had shrimp alfredo, frittata, mac and cheese, portabello mushrooms, roasted red pepper soup, and desserts.
georgia and i wore our brightly colored togas proudly! she left it on for almost the whole party. we played bingo (loudly) and really had so much fun. our first chomp was a success. the next one will be in may (because of Easter in april) and the theme is "mom's cooking" at my house. everyone has to wear an apron!

window of life

i sent this picture to "shades of inspiration" flickr group. the window was given to me by my husband's mom. he had written his name on it with airplane glue when he was young. i added buttons from my grandmothers, mothers, and my collection and old lace and scrapbook elements. it was fun because of all the memories it holds.  i need to learn how to add a button. maybe i could find a tutorial about it.

today is "the breakfast club". for the past 15 or so years, my sisters and mom (and anyone else who wants to) get together for breakfast. our family is large and close. this is my "therapy" session for the week. no matter how low i may feel, i always come home feeling better. we share funny stories, sad or hard stories, and anything anyone wants to discuss. we look at magazines and/or catalogs and sometimes blogs. it is something i rarely miss and i look forward to it always.
