Pink Saturday

Happy New Year and Pink Saturday to Everyone visiting!! For our first pink saturday, Beverly is hosting the theme of a new project. My daughter, Katie, is getting married this year (November) and my project for the year is her wedding. I'll be designing and making her dress and invitations and probably decorate too! Her wedding will be really unusual (sort of Victorian Goth), but anyone who has the slightest knowledge of her will totally agree it will be so her!!

She wants a black wedding dress so we found some fabulous material in New Orleans. The underneath is Vera Wang gray charmeuse. It flows beautifully.

The fabric for the top is ribbon lace imported from Italy. Very lush and rich. (terrible picture!)

The bottom fabric is from France and I love the way you can see the gray fabric through it! The top of the fabric has polka dots scattered and those little black pieces hang loose with the fringe at the bottom.

Of course I'll be a nervous wreck when I start cutting but I feel like the fabric will make itself (almost!)
She's so excited about it all as we all are. She and her boyfriend have been together for almost ten years and he's a great guy whom we all love!

Of course I have to include a little pink on the "Papa Noel" bag below. I made these last year for the kids' presents that they receive on New Year's Eve from Papa Noel. I started this tradition when they were little because they would totally ignore their stockings. Unlike Santa presents, the little gifts they receive are all a surprise and nothing they can ask for. The bags hold the overflow from the stockings!

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and I'm looking forward to a wonderful New Year! My resolution is to make a Gratitude List at least once a week. I've always tried to be optimistic about life but making an actual list will help me focus directly on certain gifts from God. My first list certainly contains all the wonderful internet friends I've acquired! Bless you all, y'all!

  1. What a beautiful dress you are making for your daughter. Such a precious gift you are giving to her. I love all the material.

A gratitude journal is an excellent idea - I tried that several years ago but didn't follow through. I think I will try it again.

    Happy New Year and PS!

  3. This fabric is gorgeous, I can imagine feeling nervous about cutting it, but I am sure the dress will be lovely. A gratitude journal can be photos too (on those days when you don't have time to write). Being thankful in the coming year, always a good thing.

Happy Pink Saturday and Happy New Year.

  6. The dress will be lovely. My cousin had a Goth themed wedding and even though I was unable to attend, family members said it was lovely. I know your daughter's wedding will also be lovely. How could it not in a dress made from such beautiful fabric.

Love the idea of a gratitude list. Something I need to do as well. I think it always helps to focus on the positive rather than the negative.
